Let's be honest, it's hard not to let our furkids on the sofa. If you can, then the more power to you! I just enjoy the snuggles too much and can't say no to her cute little face! As you may already know, we have an adorable golden labrador named Belle! She is spoiled and treated like a little princess. However, she is not very little! Weighing in at 70+ pounds, she has the surface area to drag in half the backyard on a rainy day and shed her weight in hair. Over the years I've learned a few things to make our lives easier and keep our house cleaner!
Ever get an idea and you are so excited about it that you gather the supplies and learn as you go? This was definitely one of those times! My best friend was working on a coffee table project and mentioned wanting to use gel stain for the top. After all these years of DIY, somehow I had never heard of gel stain! I had been putting off this project since part of the railing is attached to the wall and flooring and I had no idea how to strip the current stain without making a huge mess and potentially ruining something. Gel stain seemed the like perfect way to darken them to match the flooring.
As I took my dog for a walk, I passed a group of elementary school aged boys playing football in the yard. It was very clear which one was the leader. I remember being the only girl on my street at that age and was the groups leader. I naturally took charge in situations and continued to throughout school and into college. I never thought that a boy should be in charge instead, or anyone else for that matter. I was confident in my skills and the ability to lead.
PPG's 2019 Color of the Year, Night Watch, is giving me serious fall vibes. As a new school year begins we start to look ahead, but there is still plenty of time in the year to make an impact! The rich green hue reminds me of the evergreens that will continue to keep their color while the other trees turn brown and become bare for the winter. Wondering how to incorporate this color into your home? I've rounded up a few suggestions!
The kitchen - the heart of the home, the gathering place for friends and family & the first project we tackled after closing on our new home. Let's check out the before & after as I breakdown what we did to the space.
The space to the right of the garage door used to have a top cabinet with glass doors and backsplash. I instantly thought of "Fixer Upper" and said "Joanna would put open shelving here". I searched Instagram for inspiration. There are a lot of options when it comes to the design! Did I want floating shelves? Or use brackets? Then there were a million options for brackets!
Everyone has some vague idea of what a book club is. Whether that be positive or negative, what's not to like about spending an evening with friends drinking wine and eating snacks? Book clubs can be as fun, or serious, or quirky as you want them to be. I'd say ours is a mix of all three!
If you're still not convinced, maybe these 10 reasons will:
The photo ledge is the new gallery wall. This trend will be everywhere this year and for less than $20 you can DIY your own!
Usually my posts are about home decor and interior design. However, I recently had the privilege of designing a dear friends wedding program!
2018. The first calendar year in our new home! I don't think I've ever painted so much in my life. And still have so much painting to do! As many of us do this time of year, I've been reflecting on the past year and set goals for the upcoming year. I wanted to share a few home highlights from the few months of 2018 that I've had this site and look forward to sharing our 2019 projects with you!
